What is Descriptive Text?
Descriptive text is used to describing a person, thing or an object using five senses. So that the reader can visualize the subject being described.
Why are we Make Desxriptive Text?
Purpose of Description text to describe particular participant.
Generic Structure of Descriptive Text
- Identification
This section, located in the first paragraph, aims to identify an object to be described. Identification serves to introduce the reader to the object that we are going to explain.
- Description
This section, located in the second paragraph and so on, contains the charactheristic intern in something that you have introduced to the reader in the first paragraph.
Language Features :
- The grammar tenses used are simple present tense.
- Use of the adjective (an adjective).
- Action verb : verbs that show an activity (for example run, sleep, talk, walk, cut, etc..).
- Specific participant : has a certain object, is not common unique (only one).
ACTIVITY 3
1. Write a descriptive text, describing historical buildings, minimal 4 paragraph and attach picture in each paragraph and publish it in your blog.
2. Record a video you read the paragraph in a good pronounciation creatively and publish in your youtube channel, attach the video in your blog.
MONUMENT PANCASILA
The National Monument or usually called as Monas is located in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. This obelisk was build 1961 with the purpose to commemorate the struggle and fight of the people in Indonesia to achieve their independence. It was opened to the public in 1975.
The National Monument is a rectangular tower with the height of 132 meters. The typical part of the building that became a special characteristic of it is the flame shape covered with gold foil located on the top of the tower. There is a museum at the base part of the tower with the size of 80 x 80 meters. Everyone can visit the museum to learn the history of Indonesia. There is also an amphitheater in this building called Ruang Kemerdekaan, it is located in the "cup" part of Monas and it can be reached by using spiral stairs at the north and south doors. If you go to the southern side of the building, you will find an elevator that can be use to access the top platform where we will find the observation deck and also the flame of independence.
